The Polaris Programme has donated 22 computers to the Directorate for Strategic Planning and Recovery of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. This equipment will enhance the efficiency of developing and implementing strategies for the growth and recovery of Ukraine’s education system.
Experts in the education sector of the Programme have been cooperating with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for many years, providing support in implementing modern approaches to education financing. Particular attention is given to training specialists working on reforms through educational programmes, consultations, and practical sessions.
At the end of 2024, the Directorate for Strategic Planning and Recovery was reformed—its responsibilities were expanded to cover all aspects of education and science financing. New units were also established to oversee subsidy allocation formulas and the management of financial resources in education.
Andrii Stashkiv, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, emphasised the importance of this support:
"We are grateful to the people and Government of Sweden for their long-standing support in implementing democratic transformations in education governance and financing. We continuously receive expert, analytical, and advisory assistance, which is crucial for strengthening the institutional capacity of the Ministry. Today’s donation of IT equipment will enhance the productivity of the Directorate for Strategic Planning and Recovery."
The Polaris Programme will continue its cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, providing support for the decentralisation of education governance and financing, particularly in the allocation of education subsidies from the state to local budgets.
