Gender Audit in Educational Institutions: Training and Advisory Support for Hromadas

Audit.jpeg

Building on the results of the 2025 gender audit conducted in eight pilot hromadas, the Swedish–Ukrainian Polaris Programme “Supporting Multilevel Governance in Ukraine” is expanding the implementation of this initiative in educational institutions. As part of the initiative, a one-day offline training session will be delivered in Kyiv, followed by advisory support on conducting a participatory gender audit at the hromada level.

A participatory gender audit enables educational institutions to identify good practices in organising work processes, detect barriers that prevent women and men from being more effective, and develop strategies to address these challenges. This tool also contributes to fostering an organisational culture based on respect for human dignity and strengthening the capacity to deliver high-quality educational services.

The assessment procedure includes surveys, individual interviews, document analysis, as well as a review of the institution’s internal and external spaces. Unlike traditional audits, this approach is implemented by the educational institutions themselves, using the tools provided.

Expected outcomes

Participants of the training will gain the knowledge, skills, and tools required to conduct a gender audit in an educational institution. It is expected that, following the training, participants will carry out a gender audit in their respective institutions during 2026. The Polaris Programme will provide advisory support to hromadas as needed.

Who can participate

Educators from educational institutions in hromadas are invited to apply. Each educational institution is expected to nominate two participants, one of whom must be authorised to make decisions within the institution.

The training date will be confirmed after the group is formed.

Training format: offline, 1 day

Applications can be submitted via the link by 26 February 2026.
